FIRST FRIDAYS 5:00-7:30 pm

The Topeka Art Guild and Gallery is constantly working to make First Fridays both FUN and PROFITABLE.

May 2024

Mark Clarke Artist of the Month

December 2023

The newest exhibit will be paintings by our Artist of the Month: Cathy Brown. Her work will be displayed on the "red walls" all through November.

The Kansas Show continues until November 26.

The Topeka Art Guild has been around since 1916. Every First Friday is a celebration of what guilds do:

Guilds can provide members with access to resources and contacts, as well as opportunities for networking and collaboration. They can also be a great source of information and support for members who are just getting started in their chosen profession.*

By the way: we will also have a small portion of the wall devoted to attracting New Members.

 First Friday Fun: September 1

August 2023

Hey TAG members! Here's the news about our First Friday event on August 4th from 5 to 8 pm! We're partnering with the Sertoma Clubs for their Great Topeka Duck Race, so our theme will be a "Yellow Ducky Beach Party!" We'll have the details about adopting the ducks that night. (But you can drop by sooner, to adopt if you wish). Wear your beach party-colored clothes (Maybe not Bikinis!) and enjoy an evening of Artwalk fun with friends, delicious refreshments, live music - and get a Free Gift with any purchase of $20-or-more! (Duck purchases are not included in that offer.)

July 2023

The Summer Exhibit continues. There will not be a single "Artist of the Month." Instead members of the "Open Studio Group," led by Lila Bartel, will be displaying their work.

Host Sherrie Dick allows a guest to choose a "party favor."

May 2023

In May we celebrated the colors of Cinco de Maya. We enjoyed seeing the beautiful clothes people chose to wear!

Suzy made delicious treats, Marie brought fruit and Mike found Margarita mix that tasted like the real thing! The 6-piece flute ensemble, Silver Winds, was fantastic. (So sorry if you missed it!)

April 2023

Hi TAG-ers...Here's an update on our Gallery's "Fabulous First Fridays"! April's First Friday date was also Good Friday, so numbers of people attending dropped a bit; however, sales were good that day! It was a Celebrate the COLOR Yellow day, so anyone wearing a bit of yellow received an origami packet of wildflower seeds. Our "Guess What" game winner won a miniature painting on an easel & two packages of yellow Peeps! Sincere THANKS to ALL who helped make the event successful!!

From the February newsletter:

Every First Friday this year will be a full-blown party! We've made it fun and easy for Hosts and Hostesses with color schemes and themes.

Sherry Dick will visit with hosts to give them their special badges and fill them in on any games for the night. FF Events and the hosting chart will be posted on the corkboard in the office area. We are also now using our front West window to feature the work of a single artist each month There will be a sign-up list for this opportunity also on the corkboard. Don't miss out!

From the January newsletter:

December's First Friday was a fun event and brought in a lot of sales and new visitors. Let's keep the momentum going! From now-on (until further notice) we're focused on trying to make ALL First Fridays fun and lucrative.

Join the fun in February - celebrating RED! On FF, (Feb. 3) anyone stopping in wearing red will receive a gift! There will also be a game to play involving red! Wear red when you come to First Friday's evening event and be part of the celebration. Hopefully we will have some musicians joining us, too!

More exciting things to come...and we WELCOME your ideas and input. If we all work together and spread the news, we could become a prominent go-to place for every First Friday Art Walk!! Questions? Email Sherrie
